Why and When Do I need a Model Release?

Why do you need permission?

Photos that can be cleared for commercial use sell 500% more often than other photos!

And if there is a "recognizable person" in your photo, you'll need to get their permission in the form of a Model Release in order for your photo to be commercially cleared.

Getting a model release from the people your photo protects you and the buyer from legal issues.

Ultimately, photos with model releases are in high demand from customers.

What does "recognizable person" mean?

See the images below for some helpful guidance about the types of photos that do or do not qualify as being recognizable.

Note: After your photo has been reviewed by our team, you will be shown the number of recognizable for whom you will need to get a model release from for the photo to be Commercially Cleared.

How do I get a model release?

Twenty20 makes it really easy to get model releases by sending a link for a simple e-signature. You can do this from "Editing" your photo on our website or in the iOS app.

Also, your models will be able to opt-in to giving you permission for all photos you upload of them so that you only need to ask for a signature once.
